Technical Concepts Copywriting

Translating complex ideas into accessible language has been a consistent thread throughout my work. Whether in professional or social settings, my focus is always the same: making information not just accurate, but even applicable for the specific audience in question.

The provided examples span a wide range of audiences – from independently contracted entrepreneurs to metal sculpture fabricators and environmentally engaged college students. Each required a different approach to clarity, tone, and intent, while still aiming to inform, guide, or support the reader.

Demonstrating Marketing Tools to Rising Entrepreneurs

The purpose of the UnFranchise Blog was to provide guidance to the independently contracted entrepreneurs of Market America (MA), called UnFranchise Owners, or UFOs.

More importantly, the Market America “voice” acted as a coach, guide, assistant, and supporter of UFOs on how to leverage themselves, their networks, and their resources to sell MA products.

The below blog post includes samples about Hurdlr, a tax deduction tracking service; Autoworks, and how these products could maximize your mileage in the face of rising gas prices; Networking, and how to manage business relations successfully; and Pulse, a marketing app that used basic CRM functions to assist UFOs with client activity and retention.

Documenting a Technical Fabrication Process: School Bus Roof Raise

The process of raising the roof of a school bus seems straightforward, but the detail of how to keep the roof level as it was raised was a complication in and of itself.

After a year of working as a metal fabricator under Jim Gallucci himself and researching skoolie roof raises all over the internet, I provided the Gallucci Studios crew with a step-by-step process for how we’d “DIY” the lifting of a couple thousand pounds of metal off its own frame.

Explaining Environmental Policy Through Social Media

As anyone can imagine, persuading college students to participate in extracurriculars is tough enough! Directing them in how to advocate for the environment through politics, then, is a mountain of a challenge. Succeeding in doing so, however, was incredibly rewarding.

It was my job to come up with action items that fit my contract requirements, explain to my student-run team the policies and leaders related to those tasks, and execute those efforts across the twenty to fifty members and volunteer participants at UNCG.

See below for some social media posts advertising speaker events and a student member guide for how to accomplish their desginated tasks.

Discussing Environmental Policy Through Academic Writing

The below blog post includes assignments from a Natural Resource Policies class with Kevin Redding, the executive director of the Piedmont Land Conservancy, from my Political Science college career.

The featured essays are on Air Force Fuel Emissions and Pre-Salt Drilling in the Santos Basin. Both are complex environmental issues that I researched and reported on. I then presented the information to my fellow classmates, wherein we discussed our respective approaches to the assignments.

Air Force Fuel Emissions considers the emissions of aircrafts compared to that of cars, types of alternative fuels available, the government institutions responsible for addressing fuel emissions by the USAF, and a loose overview of actionable steps by those organizations.

Pre-Salt Drilling in the Santos Basin discusses the dangers, government appropriations (and scandals, such as the Mensalão trials), economic risks, and general corruption in Brazil associated with these deep-sea drilling operations.
