Discussing Environmental Policy Through Academic Writing
The below blog post includes assignments from a Natural Resource Policies class with Kevin Redding, the executive director of the Piedmont Land Conservancy, from my Political Science college career.
The featured essays are on Air Force Fuel Emissions and Pre-Salt Drilling in the Santos Basin.
Air Force Fuel Emissions considers the emissions of aircrafts compared to that of cars, types of alternative fuels available, the government institutions responsible for addressing fuel emissions by the USAF, and a loose overview of actionable steps by those organizations.
Pre-Salt Drilling in the Santos Basin discusses the dangers, government appropriations (and scandals, such as the Mensalão trials), economic risks, and general corruption in Brazil associated with these deep-sea drilling operations.
Demonstrating Marketing Tools to Rising Entrepreneurs
The purpose of the UnFranchise Blog was to provide guidance to the independently contracted entrepreneurs of Market America (MA), called UnFranchise Owners, or UFOs.
The role of the MA channels (for which I was responsible) and thus my blog posts was to bring together all the different pieces of Market America – Shop.com, Shop Annuity, J.R. Ridinger and Loren Ridinger, Marc and Steve Ashley, Motives Cosmetics, Isotonix Supplements, Layered Jewelry, and so on.
More importantly, the Market America “voice” was meant to coach, guide, assist, support, and instruct UFOs on how to leverage themselves, their networks, and their resources to sell MA products.
The below blog post includes samples about Hurdlr, a tax deduction tracking service; Autoworks, and how these products could maximize your mileage in the face of rising gas prices; Networking, and how to manage business relations successfully; and Pulse, a marketing app that used basic CRM functions to assist UFOs with client activity and retention.
Instructions for Raising the Roof of a School Bus
While the Gallucci Studios crew has far more experience than I do with metal sculpture, none of them had researched school bus roof raises like I had. So, while they had a general idea of how we’d accomplish this feat, it seemed prudent to provide them with a step-by-step process for how we’d DIY lifting a couple thousand pounds of metal off its own frame.
Explain Environmental Policy to College Students via Social Media
As the founder of the Defend Our Future branch at UNCG, I was sole coordinator of members’ activities, program opportunities, and thus the only marketer, as well. It was my responsibility to not only schedule speakers for events and coordinate logistics, but also advertise for attendance – both in-person and virtually.
Posts I created included:
- “Fun Facts” about the speaker, organization, or policies affiliated with respective environmental issues/efforts
- “How To’s” instructing students on what they can do to be involved and communicate with local leaders
- And even an extensive Reel on doing research before calling your representatives to raise your concerns
